Want to create a PDF file but don’t want to buy Adobe Acrobat?
There are so many times that I have wanted to create a PDF file out of a Word document, an Excel spreadsheet, etc., but I don’t have the desire to spend the money for a full-fledged copy of Adobe Acrobat. (Yes, Adobe Reader is free but it doesn’t allow you to create PDFs, just read them.)
Well, I think I have a good solution. PDF Creator is an OpenSource product that is free to download and install. Once installed, all you have to do to create a PDF version of a document is to select the Print option within the software, then choose the printer called PDFCreator. A dialog panel will appear that looks something like this:
Fill out the form with the appropriate information, then click on the Save button. Another dialog panel will appear:
After PDF Creator completes the conversion process, you have a PDF version of the original document. Note that in the first dialog box the option “After saving open the document with the default program” is checked. You will now have the opporunity to view the finished PDF document in Adobe Reader.
Where do you find this excellent software? Here is a link - http://www.pdfforge.org/products/pdfcreator/download
Have fun!
